New 12 Sided Pound Coin Released into Circulation in the UK

The new 12 sided pound coin was released into circulation in the UK on 28 March 2017. The new £1 coin is difficult to copy and addresses the problem with the previous pound coin which is believed to have a significant amount of illegal copies in circulation.

The previous £1 coins will remain in circulation until 15th October, after that date they will become worthless.
