HMRC Announce that they will target private tutors and fitness instructors

The HMRC have announced a proposal to target private tutors and fitness instructors who have not been declaring all of their income in their self assessment. An amnesty has been offered to any individuals who make voluntary declarations to the HMRC by 31 March 2012 in order to avoid penalties. Declarations will be permitted to go back 5 years with reduced penalty.

This follows on from an HMRC review earlier in the year over the returns of self employed plumbers and medical consultants.
