The Queens’s Diamond Jubilee took place over an extended 4 day weekend from 2 – 5 June 2012 to mark 60 years of the Queen’s reign. The spectacular Diamond Jubilee River Pageant took place on Sunday 3 June 2012 with a fleet of over 1,000 boats sailing across the Thames in patronage to the Queen. An estimated 1 million people turned up to celebrate along the Thames despite heavy rain throughout the day. The once in a lifetime event was truly spectacular and promoted a feel good factor throughout London. We look forward to the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral on Tuesday and the formal carriage Procession in the afternoon. The weather is forecast to improve and we can expect greater crowds around Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.
Small businesses in London are likely to benefit from the 4 day weekend. Retailers are predicting that over £820 million will be spent over the Jubilee weekend.
